GASAE, French Armed Forces Open Intermediate CBRN Course
The Ghana Army School of Ammunition and Explosives (GASAE), in partnership with the French Armed Forces, has opened a two-week Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Intermediate Course at Michel Camp, Tema.
The course, which commenced on Monday 14 September 2026, aims to enhance Ghana Armed Forces personnel's ability to detect, identify and respond effectively to CBRN threats.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Acting Commander of GASAE, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Tetteh-Kumah, said the programme is part of the Military High Command's efforts to develop a credible and sustainable CBRN capability within the Ghana Armed Forces.
He explained that the course builds on participants’ basic-level training by providing advanced knowledge and skills to improve their effectiveness in the field. He thanked the French Armed Forces for their continued support and urged the trainees to demonstrate discipline and commitment throughout the course.
The French Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Grégoire Madelin, emphasised the growing importance of CBRN preparedness amid industrial growth, urban expansion and the transport of hazardous materials.
He stressed the need for Ghana to strengthen its capacity to respond rapidly to CBRN-related incidents. He reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Ghana through training, knowledge transfer and specialised exercises.
