GHANBATT 13 Conducts Veterinary Outreach in Leer County
The Ghana Battalion 13 (GHANBATT 13) Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Veterinary Team, serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), conducted a five-day veterinary outreach at Adok Payam and Dhornor in Guit, Leer County. The outreach, held from Wednesday 9 to Monday 14 September 2026, aimed to improve livestock health and support food security among local communities within the Battalion’s Area of Responsibility. Led by the GHANBATT Veterinary Officer, Captain Christopher Kelvin Dzakpasu, the team educated livestock farmers on the importance of veterinary care and healthy livestock management practices.
Working alongside two veterinary officers from Leer County, Dr Jal Dak and Dr John Reng, the team treated and provided preventive veterinary care for more than 4,000 cattle, sheep and goats. The outreach formed part of GHANBATT 13’s efforts to support local communities and strengthen cooperation between the peacekeeping force and the population in its area of responsibility.
